Took the camera out for a "photo-safari" this morning. Went about 5 minutes down the road and found a great little spot. I like to think of these as travel brochure pictures.

Laura Festival

Laura Fest was last weekend. Had a fastastic time being immersed in the beauties of Australian aboriginal culture. Here's a pic of a couple of the groups, an amazing shedded coconut with dates, and the painting that I picked up...which I treasure. It's of a dugong mother and baby.

St Lucia Campus

Here are some pics of the University of St. Lucia campus. Absolutely amazing place in my opinion.

Diving South Solitary Is.

I finally finished the PADI advanced open water diver cetification. It was a lot of fun especially the second day when I saw breaching whales on the way out to the S. Solitary Is. dive site. Then bellow the water I was surrounded by about a dozen grey nurse sharks (a.k.a. "nursies") and a giant cuttle-fish. Unfortunately my camera was not sufficient for the depths that we were going (28 meters max depth) but the picture of the breaching whale...that's right...I got 'em.

Coffs Harbour 1: Donna and Andrew's wedding

Donna and Andrew's wedding was absolutely beautiful. They were married on the headlands close to a location where they met. A flock of Gallahs (pink cockatoos) flew over them in the middle of the ceremony and the reception was fun and filled with very happy and warm people. So wonderful to be part of their big day.

Day out in Brisbane

Today I did a little bit of exploring...actually I did a lot. I took the City Cat all along the Brisbane River, went to this amazing part of town called South Bank Parkways, had a fabulous lunch and went to the art museum. Absolutely beautiful city and so easy to get around.

Gatton Campus - University of Queensland

Today was my first day at the Gatton campus, University of Queensland.
I met a lot of really interesting people and the presentation well really well. I got some new insights and people seemed really interested in my research.
Here are some photos of campus, me presenting, and my temporary office. What a beautiful campus it is...

Getting over jetlag

So it worked! Thanks to Jared and other wise travelers I'm in my second day in Austalia with no jet lag to speak of. Hurray. Tomorrow I give a seminar at the University of Queensland, School of Integrated Systems. Stay tuned...
